Y wont she come out of her igloo?

my giunea pig jezzy wont come out of her igloo.everyday we play togather.but today she wanted food but would not come out so i had to put her food dish in the entrance of her igloo.and when i put it there she ate like crazy almost like she hadn't eaten in hours!also she keeps whistling and cooing.plz tell me whats wrong with her

diana is right as you have probably have noticed that animals have safe places

this is just her 'safe place' at the moment. the reason for her rapid food intake is to quickly collect the food so that she can return back into her 'safe place'

they are not nocturnal animals so they are active during the day

do not encourage this behaviour by placing her food nearer to her, just leave in in the far corner and she will soon venture out and explore. reward her when she comes out of her igloo to encourage this wanted behaviour. although you handle her regularly and she trusts you, when she is placed into her cage the only thing that she can trust then becomes her 'safe place' (the igloo in this case)

just work with her more inside of her cage as well as outside to encourage her to move around her cage more :)

i wish you all the best :) x

arent giunea pigs nocternal? or is that hamsters? well if they are there is your problem, but if not, is it stressed out? put some food in and leave it for a day or two mabye it will get better
